Rue Montorgueil Events Calendar 2027
Rue Montorgueil’s 2027 opens the way Paris always opens a year: with galette des rois in the pâtisseries, the statutory winter sales, and one of the strongest photography seasons the 1st arrondissement has had in years at the Bourse de Commerce five minutes from the street.
Listings are grouped by month. This page covers what is confirmed at the time of writing — January and February 2027 — and states plainly where the rest of the year is not yet announced rather than filling the gap with invented dates.
How this calendar works
This is a listings guide, not a table of public holidays: every entry says why it is worth going. Every dated item has been checked against at least two independent sources, or against the organiser’s own page. Anything not yet announced is labelled a window and never given a confirmed date — a thin month stated honestly beats a padded one.
January 2027
Sunday 3 January 2027 — Épiphanie: galette des rois season
bakeries and pâtisseries citywide, including Stohrer on Rue Montorgueil
The almond frangipane tart with a fève hidden inside is sold all month, but the civil date is the first Sunday after New Year. Stohrer, the street’s own pâtisserie from 1730, is one of the best places in Paris to buy one.

Wednesday 6 January – Tuesday 2 February 2027 — Soldes d’hiver (winter sales)
shops citywide
The statutory four-week clearance, fixed by law at the second Wednesday of January and pulled forward to the first when the second falls after the 12th — which is why it starts on 6 January. Rue Montorgueil’s boutiques take part.

Until Sunday 10 January 2027 — Barbara Kruger, The History of Tears
Bourse de Commerce – Pinault Collection, 1st arrondissement
A large Kruger installation across the Rotunda and the museum’s display cases, five minutes from the street — the show to catch before it closes.

Until Sunday 10 January 2027 — Irving Penn, The World According to Penn
Bourse de Commerce, 1st arrondissement
Around 450 Penn photographs hung deliberately out of chronological order, so you follow the eye rather than the timeline. Pair it with the museum’s other photography shows on the same ticket.

Until Monday 18 January 2027 — Remember Me: 200 years of photography
Bourse de Commerce, 1st arrondissement
Around 700 works by more than 70 artists for photography’s bicentenary — the landmark show of the season. One guide still lists an April end date; the museum’s own page gives 18 January, so plan for the earlier date.

Until Monday 25 January 2027 — Raymond Depardon: French landscapes
Bourse de Commerce, 1st arrondissement
Depardon’s portrait of French villages and village shops — a quiet counterpoint to the blockbuster shows in the same building.

February 2027
Tuesday 2 February 2027 — Chandeleur (Candlemas)
crêperies and bakeries citywide
Crêpe day, forty days after Christmas: the whole city eats them, and the crêperies and bakeries around the street queue out of the door. A fixed date, so no need to check.

Tuesday 2 February 2027 — Winter sales end
shops citywide
Final markdowns. The last days of the soldes are the cheapest and the quietest of the sale season, if the size is still there.

Saturday 6 February 2027 — Nouvel An chinois (Lunar New Year begins: Year of the Goat)
citywide; parades follow in the 13th and 3rd/4th arrondissements
The lunar year starts today. The big Chinatown parades follow in the days after, though their 2027 date is not yet announced — see the windows below.

Tuesday 9 February 2027 — Mardi Gras
bakeries citywide

Sunday 14 February 2027 — Valentine’s Day
restaurants across Rue Montorgueil
The busiest dining night of the winter. The street’s bistros and its Michelin-listed kitchens fill weeks ahead, so book early or eat late.

Saturday 27 February – Sunday 7 March 2027 — Salon International de l’Agriculture
Paris Expo Porte de Versailles, 15th arrondissement
France’s biggest farm-and-food show, with Serbia as the 2027 country of honour — the producers’ answer to the street’s own market, and a full day out.

Saturday 6 – Monday 22 February 2027 — Winter school holidays (zone C, which includes Paris)
Paris and the Île-de-France (zone C)
Family-travel peak: markets, museums and the street’s cafés are noticeably busier, and the Bourse de Commerce queues build. Book restaurants ahead.

Windows: what is not announced yet
Two of the year’s big Paris moments sit just outside or across February and are not dated for 2027. They are given as windows only — no confirmed date appears here.
Lunar New Year parade, 13th arrondissement
Not yet announced for 2027. In 2026 the parade fell on Sunday 1 March; expect a Sunday somewhere between mid-February and early March. Check the mairie’s own calendar nearer the time.
Carnaval de Paris (Promenade du Bœuf Gras)
Sources disagree on the 2027 dates and both point to early March — one gives Sunday 7 March, another Friday 5 to Sunday 7 March. No date is published here; watch for an early-March window.
Beyond February, the 2027 calendar is largely unannounced. Rather than pad the page, this guide will add each month as its events are confirmed; the standing weekly fixtures below run all year regardless.
Standing fixtures: what is on every week
These do not change with the season, and they are the reason the street works as a place to plan a day around rather than a single event.
The street is the market
Marché Montorgueil is a permanent shopping street, not a rotating open-air market. The shops, pâtisseries, fishmongers and cheesemongers that line it open daily except Sunday afternoon and Mondays, and many shut at midday (roughly 12:00–15:00). Come in the morning for the full street.
Marché Saint-Eustache – Les Halles
Rue Montmartre, 1st (between Rambuteau and rue du Jour) — the Les Halles successor market, right beside Saint-Eustache at the foot of Rue Montorgueil. Open Thursday 12:30–20:30 and Sunday 07:00–15:00.
Église Saint-Eustache
The church at the bottom of the street hosts philharmonic formations, choirs and festivals through the year, with a regular concert programme. Worth checking its listing whenever you are in the quarter; the New Year concert is the fixed highlight of the season.
Bourse de Commerce – Pinault Collection
The 1st-arrondissement contemporary art museum, five minutes from the street, is closed on Tuesdays and open 11:00–19:00 (Fridays until 21:00), with free entry on the first Saturday 17:00–21:00.
Public and school holidays
- Public holidays: Toussaint 1 November 2026; Armistice 11 November 2026; Noël 25 December 2026; Jour de l’An 1 January 2027.
- School holidays (zone C, which includes Paris): Toussaint 17 October – 2 November 2026; Noël 19 December 2026 – 4 January 2027; winter 6 February – 22 February 2027.
Courses, workshops and food walks
The street and its Les Halles neighbours are the base for several food tours and cooking classes. These run on rolling schedules rather than fixed dates, so what follows is the provider and the shape of the thing, not a date.
- La Cuisine Paris (80 Quai de l’Hôtel de Ville, 4th) — a 2.5-hour “Les Halles Food Tour” covering Les Halles and Rue Montorgueil, plus croissant, choux and baguette classes from about €119. Rolling dates.
- Le Foodist — a Les Halles food tour through the Montorgueil quarter.
- Paris Food Tours — a two-hour “Express Paris Centre” walk along Rue Montorgueil, Les Halles and the Passage du Grand-Cerf.
- Secret Food Tours — an express Rue Montorgueil / Les Halles tour.
- Guidekin — a morning breakfast walk (croissant, baguette, chocolate) through Palais Royal and Rue Montorgueil, daily departures 09:30–11:00, from €99.
- Chef EJ Keller (Carotte et Caviar) — private Montorgueil–Les Halles walking tours and a market tour with a cooking workshop; themes by arrangement (chocolate, pastry, bread). Contact to agree the itinerary.
Back to 2026
If you are planning the end of this year rather than the start of next, the Rue Montorgueil Events Calendar 2026 carries November and December 2026. A 2028 calendar will be added once it is built.
