Rue Montorgueil Events Calendar 2026
Rue Montorgueil has been the market of Paris for more than 800 years, and the street rarely stands still. This page is what is actually on around it for the rest of 2026: the Christmas markets that spill across the 1st, 2nd and 8th arrondissements, the wine night the whole street drinks to, and the concerts and lights that make the end of the year worth planning around.
Listings are grouped by month. The earlier months of 2026 have passed, so the guide picks up at November and runs to the year end; the 2027 calendar continues from January.
How this calendar works
This is a listings guide, not a table of public holidays: every entry says why it is worth going. Every dated item has been checked against at least two independent sources, or against the organiser’s own page. Anything not yet announced is labelled a window and never given a confirmed date — a thin month stated honestly beats a padded one.
November 2026
Sunday 1 November 2026 — Toussaint (All Saints’ Day)
nationwide
A statutory holiday. Expect many shops shut and some market stalls to close early, so plan the day around cafés, churches and the covered passages rather than a full shop-along.

Through Sunday 1 November 2026 — Salon du Chocolat et de la Pâtisserie (final day)
Paris Expo Porte de Versailles, Hall 5, 15th arrondissement
The biggest chocolate show in the world, with around 240 exhibitors and live pastry demonstrations. Only the closing day falls in this month, so it is a one-day window rather than a week.

Wednesday 11 November 2026 — Armistice Day
Champs-Élysées and citywide
Ceremonies and a military parade along the Champs-Élysées, and one of the most solemn mornings of the Paris year. Shops closed; the street stays quiet until the afternoon.

Thursday 12 November 2026 — La Défense Christmas Market opens
Parvis de La Défense, Puteaux
The largest Christmas market in the region: roughly 300 chalets, an ice rink and a village at the foot of the Grande Arche. The opening date is agreed; the closing date is not yet confirmed (sources give 31 December or 3 January), so treat the end as provisional.

Thursday 12 – Sunday 15 November 2026 — Paris Photo 2026 (29th edition)
Grand Palais, 8th arrondissement
224 exhibitors and the international photography world in one building — the fair of the year for anyone who cares about the medium, and a short ride from the street.

Saturday 14 November 2026 — Tuileries Christmas Market opens (runs to 3 January 2027)
Jardin des Tuileries, 1st arrondissement
Around 80 chalets, a big wheel, a funfair and an ice rink in the garden between the Louvre and the Place de la Concorde — the closest big market to Rue Montorgueil and the best one for an evening walk from the street. One article carried an earlier, miscommunicated 6 November start; the organisers corrected it to 14 November.

Thursday 19 November 2026 — Beaujolais Nouveau
cafés, wine bars and bistros across the street
The new vintage is released at midnight and the whole city drinks to it. Rue Montorgueil’s bars and bistros are among the best places in Paris to join in — the street makes a night of it.

From Sunday 22 November 2026 to 4 January 2027 — Champs-Élysées illuminations and Christmas market
Avenue des Champs-Élysées, 8th arrondissement
Around 400 lit trees plus a market along the lower avenue, returning after roughly a decade away. The switch-on on 22 November is the night to see it; after that the avenue is worth walking on any evening of the season.

Thursday 26 November – Sunday 27 December 2026 — Notre-Dame Christmas Market
Square René-Viviani, 5th arrondissement
Artisan chalets beside the cathedral: smaller and calmer than the big avenue markets, and a good pairing with a walk along the Left Bank.

Window: mid-November to mid-January 2026–27 — Rue Montorgueil Christmas lights
the street itself
The shopkeepers’ association lights the street for the season, usually from mid-November until mid-January. The dates for 2026–27 are not yet published, so treat this as a window and watch the shop windows rather than a confirmed switch-on.

December 2026
December — The Christmas markets keep going (Notre-Dame closes 27 December)
Tuileries (1st), Champs-Élysées (8th), La Défense and Notre-Dame (5th)
December is the peak festive fortnight: the Tuileries garden, the lower Champs-Élysées, La Défense and the cathedral square are all running at once, and the first three are within a metro ride of the street.

Friday 25 December 2026 — Noël
nationwide
Most shops close and some markets open with shortened hours. The street’s restaurants fill for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, so book well ahead if you want to eat on Rue Montorgueil.

Thursday 31 December 2026 — New Year’s Eve on the Champs-Élysées
Avenue des Champs-Élysées, 8th arrondissement
The avenue is pedestrianised from 19:00 for a free open-air party: video-mapping on the Arc de Triomphe, a countdown and midnight fireworks, this year themed around Paris of the Arts and Ideas. Arrive early, or watch from a side street.

Thursday 31 December 2026, 20:00 — Vivaldi: The Four Seasons — Les Violons de France
Église Saint-Eustache, 1st arrondissement (at the foot of the street)
A New Year’s Eve concert in the church at the bottom of Rue Montorgueil — the street’s own neighbour as a concert hall. It sells out, so book early.

Friday 1 January 2027 — Jour de l’An
nationwide
A slow, quiet city day: markets and most shops shut, a handful of cafés open late morning. The 2027 calendar picks up from here.

Standing fixtures: what is on every week
These do not change with the season, and they are the reason the street works as a place to plan a day around rather than a single event.
The street is the market
Marché Montorgueil is a permanent shopping street, not a rotating open-air market. The shops, pâtisseries, fishmongers and cheesemongers that line it open daily except Sunday afternoon and Mondays, and many shut at midday (roughly 12:00–15:00). Come in the morning for the full street.
Marché Saint-Eustache – Les Halles
Rue Montmartre, 1st (between Rambuteau and rue du Jour) — the Les Halles successor market, right beside Saint-Eustache at the foot of Rue Montorgueil. Open Thursday 12:30–20:30 and Sunday 07:00–15:00.
Église Saint-Eustache
The church at the bottom of the street hosts philharmonic formations, choirs and festivals through the year, with a regular concert programme. Worth checking its listing whenever you are in the quarter; the New Year concert is the fixed highlight of the season.
Bourse de Commerce – Pinault Collection
The 1st-arrondissement contemporary art museum, five minutes from the street, is closed on Tuesdays and open 11:00–19:00 (Fridays until 21:00), with free entry on the first Saturday 17:00–21:00.
Public and school holidays

Courses, workshops and food walks
The street and its Les Halles neighbours are the base for several food tours and cooking classes. These run on rolling schedules rather than fixed dates, so what follows is the provider and the shape of the thing, not a date.
- La Cuisine Paris (80 Quai de l’Hôtel de Ville, 4th) — a 2.5-hour “Les Halles Food Tour” covering Les Halles and Rue Montorgueil, plus croissant, choux and baguette classes from about €119. Rolling dates.
- Le Foodist — a Les Halles food tour through the Montorgueil quarter.
- Paris Food Tours — a two-hour “Express Paris Centre” walk along Rue Montorgueil, Les Halles and the Passage du Grand-Cerf.
- Secret Food Tours — an express Rue Montorgueil / Les Halles tour.
- Guidekin — a morning breakfast walk (croissant, baguette, chocolate) through Palais Royal and Rue Montorgueil, daily departures 09:30–11:00, from €99.
- Chef EJ Keller (Carotte et Caviar) — private Montorgueil–Les Halles walking tours and a market tour with a cooking workshop; themes by arrangement (chocolate, pastry, bread). Contact to agree the itinerary.
Continue the year
The street’s listings carry straight on into the new year — winter sales, galette des rois season, the Bourse de Commerce photography shows and the start of the lunar year. Continue to Rue Montorgueil Events Calendar 2027.
